A FOURTEEN-year-old boy yesterday was named the winner of IT Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd (ITPSS)’s recently held Password Challenge at The Mall, Gadong in conjunction with Learning Ladders Charity Expo.

Kelvin Lee Hou Kiat, a student from St Margaret, Seria, received an Ipod Touch from the IT security company after being announced as the winner out of 328 entries. Lee’s password took two days, eight hours and 34 seconds to crack.

The Password Challenge was a game that tested one’s creativity in inventing strong and secured passwords.

Lee told The Brunei Times that he learnt how to compose a password after visiting ITPSS’s booth. His father persuaded him to try out his luck which ended with Kelvin bagging a prize.

The winner now has plans to teach his friends and family in creating a better and more secure password for their Internet accounts. Ariffin Sabli, Team Leader Research & Development IT Security Analyst at ITPSS, mentioned that the company is promoting a website: www.secureverifyconnect.info for anyone interested in learning more about online security.
