Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) under Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) recently collaborated with the Creative Computing Programme Area of Universiti Technologi Brunei (UTB) in a student competition to produce cybersecurity awareness videos. The objective behind this collaboration is to create better cybersecurity awareness by involving young locals, fostering their skills and creativity and to give the students an opportunity to showcase their talent.
Out of a total of 12 submissions, four were selected based on creativity, quality of videos and most importantly the clarity of the awareness message related to cybersecurity and online safety issues. The winning video on “What hackers can do with stolen data” was created by Mohammad Edy Aswandi bin Awang Haji Matassan. The video focuses on the dangers of connecting to an unsecured Wi-Fi network and how your personal data can be exploited.
In second place, the video on “Two-Factor Authentication” was produced by Naderah Nabelah @ Derah Hj Mohd Faderin Lee, and highlights the importance of two-factor authentication as a second layer security.

Lastly, in fourth place the video on “Netiquette” was produced by Nur Rahmah binti Abdul Rahim, focusing on the effects of cyberbullying.
The winners took home cash prizes, a certificate of appreciation and merchandise courtesy of CSB, while their videos will be showcased by BruCERT in local television advertising, cinema advertising and on BruCERT’s social media accounts.
