42 students from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) made an educational visit to local cybersecurity company ITPSS Sdn Bhd recently. The visit was divided into 2 sessions, consisting of students from UTB’s School of Computing in their final year and 2nd year respectively, currently undertaking an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Network Security.
“The visit is very beneficial to the students as it is related to their field of studies and the students would be exposed to the real-life scenario of cybersecurity attacks,” said lecturer Dr Wida Susanty Binti Haji Suhaili, who organized the visit to provide the students with extra knowledge on how Brunei Darussalam is being protected by ITPSS for any cybersecurity threats.
During the visit, the students were briefed on ITPSS’s role in conducting incident response through Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT), the nation’s referral agency dealing with online threats and computer security incidents. They also learned about the ITPSS’s contribution to digital crime investigation through their Digital Forensic team. Lastly, they observed a demonstration on how the Penetration Testing team performs Web Application Testing to determine whether a website is vulnerable to SQL injection and cross-site scripting.
